Review: A Test of Love

A Test of Love
A Test of Love by Kenya Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I gave this one 4.7 stars because it had some seriously epic things going on that need to be recognized… however, I found Jasmine’s constant preoccupation with food to become annoying at times. I also found Jasmine continuously running away from Chase and being kind of a bitch but then falling for the D to be annoying as well. Lastly, there was a great slow burn to this at times… but I really would have liked more of the sexy details. But as stated there were some crazy things going on in this one so I got why some of the sex was just mentioned or didn’t go down. It just would have been nice is all.

We pick up where book 1 left off in this one. Chase is absolutely indulgently delicious in this book. The story line gets really serious and dramatic, intense, and suspenseful. For awhile I felt like I was part of the Scooby-Doo team trying to solve this mystery. Some of the choices that these characters had to make were devastating and heart breaking. This book has one of my NO-GO’s in it… but the way that it was written even I was confused about how I felt about that, and I must say that is a huge feat to accomplish because I am not easily swayed. LOL!

There were also some psychotic characters in this one that had me cringing and sitting on the edge of my seat to see what they would do next. Do not fuck with Benny! That’s all I’ll say about that. I always say the second book in a series really has the hardest time. The expectations are set, and if it sucks then you know people are going to jump ship… I’m happy to report even with the few things that I didn’t care for this was EPIC! READ IT!!!

Quote Love:

“‘Say it, baby.’ Burying his face into my cleavage, he begged some more. ‘Please, Jasmine, please. Give me that soft pleasure. Only you know how to give it to me just right.’ He squeezed the curve of my behind…”

“I kissed that cunt. Her liquid smeared against my lips. I licked those folds and released a growl that made her turn back and look at me in fear.
You better be scared.

“I needed to get deep, I was desperate to be completely inside of her… I worked that pussy, stamped my annoyance on those secret lips. ‘Don’t ever keep this from me.’
‘Ever.’ ‘Mine! Goddamn it. You feel that?’
‘Oh, Chase!’
‘Mine, when I want it. Mine, when I beg!'”

“‘Trust me. I was doing my best not to listen to white boy beat it up.’
‘You’re disgusting.’
‘No, you’re the one and you’re mad that I’m right.’
‘Yeah. Yeah. Chase is on probation. We didn’t have sex.’
‘Well, then he’s cheating because he sure had someone upstairs screaming out biblical names for the past two hours.’
‘Oh, Chase! Help me Jesus!’ ‘Let the heavens open up! God take me now!'”

“Because you’re talking to me as if I am a dog. I don’t eat puppy chow or slop out of a bowl placed in the kitchen. I am a man. I eat like one and walk like one… I do not listen to orders, nor do I fetch and run or fucking be pulled by a leash, little girl… I. Am. No. Dog!”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh Dear! I think I have fallen for Spencer too! How did this happen???? Hahahahaha! This was really cool I loved getting the back story on Spencer and Ronnie. It had the same humor as the rest of these and of course catching up with the rest of the gang was awesome! I just never ever want to say goodbye to these characters… one more book to go for now. 😦

Review: SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston

SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston
SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston by J.A. Huss
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I was really loving Ford by the end of Rook and Ronin… then he had to go and be the most colossal asshole ever in this one. He was childish and selfish and I just wanted to say oh grow the fuck up and get on with your life you fucking tool through most of this. Now I get it, that he was really having to stretch himself and that is not comfortable and does not breed nice and non-asshole at all. Even with that understanding I just did not like him.

I loved Sasha of course. I loved when Ford pulled his head out of his ass and did something good, which was quite often for someone who claims to not give a shit about people. I’m glad he has his own full length book to redeem himself in…

Review: Panic

Panic by J.A. Huss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

********************CONTAINS SPOILERS************************

I may have been on the fence still at the end of Manic in regards to Ford but I don’t think anyone could manage to not be in love with him by the end of this one! I just want to smother him in my bussom!!! LAWD!

But for me even though I was very much in love with him by the end and felt so bad for him too… I was so in love with Rook and Ronin as a couple as well. And the way that Ronin laid the lovin down didn’t hurt that picture either, at all!!!! HOT!!! Also through what all we learned I truly do believe that Rook and Ford are better suited to be friends. “Jon likes the kinky stuff. And I’m not talking the fun kinky stuff. I’m not talking about cute pink cheeks from an erotic spanking, or teasing a girl so she wants to come, but can’t. Or any of that play stuff. I’m talking painful, ‘I never signed up for this, there is no word that will keep me safe, I don’t want this, it does not feel good, please, for fuck’s sake, stop’ kind of kinky stuff. Ford likes the kinky stuff too, so he hints. And Ronin thinks he likes the kinky stuff. But I’m doubting either of them have ever hog-tied a teenager and hung her up from the ceiling with a ball gag in her mouth and then proceeded to sexually torture her and called it fun.” That passage just ripped me apart. But if Ford and Rook were ever together could he really truly ever know that it was because she loved, and wanted him, or was it more that her “training” just makes her more predisposed to be with a guy like him. Also, I’m sure there are some kinky things that would probably take her back to the place. As a friend I felt like he gave her power and support and used his “powers” for good when she needed the push. So yeah. The secrets were still all over the place in this one, and as more information was revealed once again I was just jaw dropped, wtf, WHOA! <– That’s an actual feeling right??? I just loved this series and cannot wait to read more about all these characters.

Review: Manic

Manic by J.A. Huss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I was told that this just keeps getting better y’all were not lying. Rook definitely bit off a little more than she was willing to chew when this picks up… but she signed the contract and she is going to fulfill her commitment and let Spencer Shrike get all good and personal with her and her body with nothing between them but paint and a brush. Add that asshole Ford into the mix and you have TENSION out the wazoo in this one!!! There were a shit-ton of secrets being kept in this one and the reveal of some of those was absolutely breath taking. Huss is one talented chick! There were so many things that I never saw coming. Sure I had some ideas and thoughts but when it all went down I felt like I got caught up in a damn silent avalanche or something. It was just there and happening all of a sudden. You have to love that. I was even warming up to Ford by the end of this one. Good, great, wonderful, awesome stuff!!!

Review: Flawed Body Rock

Flawed Body Rock
Flawed Body Rock by Nora Flite
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m a happy camper once again! I really love some of these shorter serials!!!! This is definitely one of them. I will keep it short and sweet just like these books… well maybe not really sweet, lol. Lola gets to perform in this one, she learns that all that glitters isn’t gold, and that fame can definitely have its ugly side. I even kind of liked Brenda by the end of this one. If nothing else I think I get her. Sean looks real suspect. Drezden is hiding a massive amount of heavy. So needless to say this one was extremely entertaining. As I’ve said previously, I’m still loving the way that Nora puts words on paper! It’s so pretty! On to the next…

This was all kinds of delish… the back and forth the do we or don’t we? Drezden made his mind up some what quickly but Lola was not going to be the next Yoko, lol! I loved this one as well. Again, the way Nora puts words together makes my brain happy! I’m a little concerned about Lola’s brother… I want to hope for the best here but he’s not giving me good vibes right now. Fame does crazy things to people so hopefully he’ll get his ish together! The various hotel scenes in this one were wondiferous! I won’t say anymore if you’ve read you know exactly what I’m talking about and if you haven’t then you should! On to the next…

Review: Hard Body Rock

Okay, so this one took me by surprise! It was really a wonderful read. I am definitely a fan of the way Nora Flite puts words together!!! I loved the characters in this so much. Lola is so badass and the fact that she doesn’t realize it is actually cute in this and not annoying. I love any story that has siblings as best friends in it because well I can identify with that very well. I also love books where the main characters are musicians and the author actually works in some of the lyrics! Awesome stuff!!! Also… there was stroking in this one… IJS!
